Chika-an's unique sign
January 16. Monique just arrived in Davao for a quick vacation from work. We called our cousin Jessa and agreed to meet up at Abreeza Mall. We bought some nail stuff at Etude House for our late birthday present for Jessa. We meet up around 7pm and decided to have dinner at Chika-an.
"Chika-an is a restaurant featuring Cebuano cuisine, where people dine in the ambiance of an old Filipino home. The restaurant has built a tradition of great tasting Filipino dishes developed to perfection throughout its 30 years of serving the Filipino families." -Chika-an | Facebook
Chika-an has a warm ambience, suitable for a family date and is typically a Filipino restaurant.
Chika-an is not new to me. I have dined her twice before and I am still excited to eat here.
They offer basically Filipino cuisine. My favorites are their baked scallops and their crispy pata.

Crispy Pata
Their crispy pata is similar to every Filipino resto there is. However, what separates their crispy pata from the lot is the actual crisp of the pata! I swear, every inch of the skin is crispy and tasty. I also liked that their serving is really generous. The crisp, taste and the size made this dish really worth its price. Satisfaction guaranteed!
Php 385

Baked Scallops
The baked scallops that they served washot and fresh. The topping of cheese and butter (I guess) was creamy and savory as well. 6-7 medium-sized scallops are served at each order.
Php 160-180

Chicharong Bulaklak
Their take on chicharon bulakbulak is quite impressive. The taste is really good and the way they cut the bulaklak was different than the usual one. Also, it was presented very well. They put each disc of bulaklak on top of each other forming a tower. The downfall of this dish was the serving, I think it was a bit pricey considering the amount of food we got. But the taste and the presentation made up for it.
Php 185

Overall, I think that this resto is satisfactory and is a must-try. The price is quite right and the food tastes like a good home-cooked meal. You'd leave with a light heart and a happy stomach.

Recommended! :)

After the meal, we strolled a little then went to F. Torres St. to find the cab that sells durian.
Jessa was fetched by our uncle because they have to leave early the next morning for GenSan.
Monique and I opted to strolled again (due to fullness) around the Bakbak compound in Torres. We talked about anything and had a fun sister-ly bonding. We went back to cab that was selling durian, ate and walked home.
It was a good night spent with the two girls I missed most!

Love you girls,
Achie :)
